Subscriptions to the databases below have been purchased for the exclusive use of the Mountain View High School community. The databases are collections of full text articles and book excerpts searchable by key words and/or subject terms. The information found in the databases is generally much more reliable than anything you can find for free on the Internet. For most research, the library recommends trying the databases before using virtual libraries (like www.lii.org) or search engines (like Google). For access from home, please check in at the library to get the username and password.
Gale’s Student Resource Center This is a large 4-part database (a general database, an opposing viewpoints database, a health database, and a collection of ebooks). Gale is good for finding newspaper, magazine, journal articles, and book excerpts on various subjects.
JSTOR Used by millions for research, teaching, and learning. With more than a thousand academic journals and over 1 million images, letters, and other primary sources, JSTOR is one of the worlds most trusted sources for academic content.
eLibrary This is another great comprehensive database of articles from newspapers, magazines, and scholarly journals. This database also contains reference materials from some books and websites that have been checked over for credibility.
World Book Encyclopedia This is the World Book Encyclopedia, generously paid for by our PTSA.
